Aberdeen Maritime Museum

The City's award-winning Maritime Museum brings the history of the North Sea to life. View displays and exciting exhibitions on the offshore oil industry, shipbuilding, fishing and clipper ships then visit the shop and licensed café.

 

Beach Leisure Centre

There is something for everyone at Aberdeen's beachfront leisure complex. The leisure pool is specifically geared to families. It is the ideal place for having fun with many water features to enjoy including waves, a fountain and rapids. Four exciting flumes also complement the pool.

 

European Curling Championships

In December 2009 Aberdeen City will host the European Curling Championships.

 

The Malt Whisky Trail

On the whisky trail of Speyside (approx 30 mins from Aberdeen), you'll find more than half of Scotland's malt whisky distilleries, each with its own warm welcome and an invitation to see, smell, taste and absorb the magic of whisky

 

Blairs Museum

Housed in part of a former college, Blairs Museum gives a unique insight into Scotland's Catholic history and heritage with spectacular collections spanning more than 500 years

 

Museum of Scottish Lighthouses

The Museum of Scottish Lighthouses consists of the first lighthouse built on mainland Scotland and a purpose-built museum housing artefacts donated by the Northern Lighthouse Board and the general public. It is open all year.

 

Macduff Aquarium

Macduff Marine Aquarium features marine life from the Moray Firth, Scotland’s largest bay, in a variety of exciting and innovative exhibits.

 

The Gordon Highlanders Museum

The Gordon Highlanders Museum is a vibrant military museum located in the heart of Aberdeen and is home to the regimental treasures of the world.

 

Archaeolink Prehistory Park

Archaeolink is a multi award winning living history park and visitor attraction, with a central focus on education, participation and fun.

 

Satrosphere Science Centre

Satrosphere's exhibits offer interactive ways for visitors to discover more about the world around them and the science of how things work.

 

Grampian Transport Museum

See various historically important local vehicles, such as the Craigievar Express, a steam powered tricycle built in 1895, the Sentinel Steam Waggon of 1914 and the beautifully restored Cruden Bay Tram

 

The Tolbooth Museum

The Tolbooth Museum is one of Aberdeen's oldest surviving buildings where you can see exciting re-constructions, models, displays and interactive exhibits. They present the history and development of crime and punishment, local history and government in Aberdeen.

 

Provost Skene's House

Dating from 1545, Provost Skene's House is one of Aberdeen's few surviving examples of early burgh architecture. It now houses an attractive series of period room settings, recalling the elegant furnishings of earlier times.

 

Aberdeen Art Gallery

Aberdeen's splendid Art Gallery houses an important fine art collection with particularly good examples of 19th, 20th and 21st century works. The Gallery has a wide range of exhibitions with an emphasis on contemporary work and an impressive permanent collection
